This is on my mind…

Wednesday, February 25th

I love eBooks.  Since I have an iPhone, I’ve chosen to read them there rather than going to the expense of purchasing one of those dedicated eBook readers such as the Kindle.

I have had an eReader account for a number of years and generally have not had any problems with obtaining my purchases.  Recently I decided to try the Stanza application on the iPhone 3G, as I had heard so many nice things about it. After opening the application and navigating to the online catalog, I was pleased to notice several options from which to purchase reading material.  One of them is Fictionwise, which I understand is also eReader.com.  Since I had an eReader account already established, I thought I would use that to log in and make further purchases.  Doesn’t work that way, you have to create another account specifically for this Stanza/Fictionwise combo.  No problem, I did just that and went to purchase my first book: Getting Things Done, by David Allen, at a price of $15.00.  That’s where the problem comes in.

Fictionwise won’t let me download the book!! I have tried both with my iPhone, where I get a database error from the website, and from my web browser, which tells me a valid credit card is not registered, which must be done in order to generate an unlock code for the book.  Obviously, since I’ve made the purchase, I DO have a valid card on file.

Just for grins, I entered my eReader.com registration information from my iPhone, and yep, all the purchases I have made during my 8 year membership are there.  I was able to download them without problems.  I closed out of  there, re-established my connection to Fictionwise and entered my new login, again attempting to download the aforementioned book.  Still no luck.  To make sure the problem wasn’t with the Stanza reader, I went to Books On Board and successfully purchased a copy of Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer.  (At a really great price of $5.84!!)

As you have probably surmised from the title of my purchase, I am interested in effective time management.  Since Monday afternoon, I have attempted this download several times and written more than one email to Fictionwise, who has yet to respond.  I wonder how long this is going to take to move from my Inbox to the Done list???  In the meantime, I’m dumping Fictionwise and shopping Books On Board.

image1678100237.jpgI love the pearl white of my Eee netbook. I must have Spring fever tho, because I grabbed some glitter rubons at Michael’s to embellish her. Think I’m going to put a sheet of laminate over them so the don’t flake off. I’m sure I’ll get some “and how old are you?” from colleagues, just as I did when I wheeled in my hot pink Zucca with flashy lights. Who says being half–a-century means I have to grow up?!?

image113099625.jpgOne thing I really like to do on Saturday is play around with technology. I usually listen to Leo Laporte and browse around for fun new apps for my iPhone 3G.
Today I discovered two (so far). Colloquoy, an IRC client, so I can join the #twitlive chat room, and the second is the one I am using now, iBlogger.
I’m thinking I really like this blogging app, pretty much because I can add photos.
I used Colloquoy earlier today to connect to the TechGuy chat and I think it’s easier to follow the speeding scroll on my iPhone than it is on my laptop screen. It’s pretty cool to be able to connect on the go with my phone when I dont have my Netbook or laptop with me.
Right now I’m going back to the TV though, because the Jayhawks are kicking butt at Allen Fieldhouse!

Ok, so now I have discovered the WordPress app for iPhone, so I can write posts while on the go, which is usually when thoughts hit me. The other time is in the shower, but don’t think I’ll take the time to write there. Besides, I’m not putting my sleek iPhone in one of those goofy waterproof things!
Only problem is I can’t figure out how to send this on it’s merry way!

Here we are on Saturday morning, and you would think after 4 cups of coffee my mind would be awake enough to actually participate in what I’m doing. Not so… here I am watching the Movie and a Makeover on TBS and updating blogs and I think I’m creating pages instead of posts. So…. if you are one of the few who don’t have much else to do but read the ramblings of half-sleeping mind, forgive my ineptitude as you try to navigate this mess I’m making 🙂

I received my 3g white 16gb iPhone for my birthday, July 23rd.  I love it MORE every day, and am having way too much fun exploring the app store.

My latest favorite is the GTS World Racing game, probably because it’s the only racing game I’ve ever been able to win!  I’ve been playing Super Monkey Ball and Cro-Mag Racing, too, but haven’t even come close to succeeding at either of those.
